Our dream of opening my own studio & gallery space that I can open up for visitors came true earlier this year. As we began to set up the space, word got out to the Tucson community that we were opening soon and the requests for an opening kept coming. It was the middle of one of our hottest Tucson summers, Melissa and I thought-well we’ll set the date, make the announcement and see what kind of turnout we have.
Sunday, July 1st 3p-5p came so soon… and as we prepared to leave the house for the gallery, I grabbed my sketchbook in case I needed something to pass the afternoon. Well, to my delight crowds of friendly faced- folks I had recently met and those who have been around for my art journey in Tucson. We showcased current finished projects list the HNS-YWCA mural, limited edition, self Help Graphics Atelier print “Arizona Highway”, and my most recent prints about migration & water created during my art residency in Red Wing Minnesota’s “Tower View-Anderson Center.”
The Galeria was packed and art was sold during the afternoon of the opening. Camcakes AZ made some delicious cupcakes for the event, Paula Williams of Long Realty sponsored the wine and my long time supportive Tucson Tamale Company hosted the food!
I greeted and talked the entire afternoon and it felt AMAZING.
Thank you Tucson for the love. Stop by any Friday or Saturday between 11a-5p -Galeria Mitotera 1802 S. 4th Ave.
